Team UPDATES!

Packing Night
It is always exciting but a little intimidating to tackle packing up our supplies for a mission trip.
We met last night to get our shipping crates ready for the trip. Our chore is to pack everything into the boxes so that all the crates weigh less than 50 lbs. We were able to accomplish this by picking and choosing what would go into each crate, weigh it and shift things around until the weights are correct.
Upon entering the supply room, several of the members were thinking there was no way to get all that into the crates. It all worked out perfectly and we have 15 crates ready to go. Thanks to the team for working so hard last night.
After going over some last minute details last night we are ready to depart at 6 pm Thursday.
The team members are getting excited as well as the missionaries in Brazil.

July Newsletter
This will be our “final edition” of the Brazil newsletter before we go to Brazil. What a fast paced and exciting ride it has been to arrive at this point! It’s hard to believe that we leave in only eighteen days. In this morning’s worship service, Bounty Land Baptist Church will commission the Brazil team to go out on mission. This is a critically important occasion for this team and it’s important to understand what “commission” means. One of the many definitions in the dictionary, and the most appropriate says the word means, “to authorize; send on a mission; the act of granting certain powers or the authority to carry out a particular task or duty; a special assignment that is given to a person or group.”
The Brazil mission team will be going out to fulfill God’s calling to serve at the Davis Lar under the authority of Bounty Land Baptist Church. We thank you for granting that authority and making a commitment to pray for the work of this team. Just as you make a commitment to pray for us, we also commit to pray for you each evening during our devotional time.
We are all tremendously excited about this mission and we look forward to seeing God at work as we travel to Brazil and enjoy building relationships with Mark, Paige, Matt and Rachel Anderson and the kids at the Lar. We all offer heart-felt thanks for your prayers, your encouragement and your financial support of this team. You are the best!
Materials/Supplies
Thank you all for the materials and supplies donations we have received. You might be interested in how we intend to use the items on the list.
Scrapbooking - We have almost completed the advance preparation work we needed to do for the scrapbooking but if you have materials that you intend to donate, please do go ahead and bring them in. We know that we will find a use for them.
Painting equipment – some of our team members will be doing some painting on the children’s houses. We tried to work last year with Brazilian equipment and it was difficult to do a good job. American equipment is much sturdier so we’ve discovered it is best to take these items with us rather than buy locally.
Embroidery floss/Bobby pins – Nerick will be working with the girls at the LAR to help them learn how to make jewelry. The girls do occasionally have an opportunity to sell small items and they get to keep the money they make.
Photo paper – we will be taking a LOT of photos for the kids to use in their scrapbooks so can use all the photo paper we can get. We will have two photo printers with us so will use a lot of this paper.
Sunscreen/Sunblock – Marciliane, one of the young girls at the LAR, has Vitiigo, a condition that results in loss of skin pigmentation. The skin areas that have lost pigmentation are very susceptible to painful sunburn so she must use high SPF sunscreen or sun block at all times. The Brazilian products are not very good so they can always use as much American sun product as possible.
Miscellaneous – Items such as Tylenol, vitamins, band aids, school supplies, etc., are expendables that are much in demand in a community of 70 children. They can never have too many of these things.
Additional items – these requests have come in since materials list was created
Stuffed “Critters “ - in addition to the items on the posted list, if you have a child who has outgrown their SMALL stuffed creatures (i.e., Webkins, Beanie Babies, etc.) we will gladly take them. They should be small and lightweight. They can be stuffed around the other materials as padding in our packing crates. Each child at the Lar gets some kind of stuffed animal or doll when they arrive at the Lar and as these wear out, they get new ones so they always have a need for them. These can also be used for ministry in the surrounding communities.
Game Room – Mark and Paige are creating a “game room” on the boy’s side of the LAR to give them some outlet for their energy. They need games such as dominoes, checkers, etc., that do not require that the kids have a knowledge of English language. They have a ping pong table so replacement paddles and ping pong balls would be good. They would also enjoy having some posters to decorate their walls.
Team Travel Schedule
We will be traveling for over 24 hours once we leave Atlanta so please pray for the team: for patience with the inconveniences of air travel, for energy, and for safety. Also pray that the team will truly represent Christ and look for opportunities to share His love as we travel.

Getting to Know The Team
Michael Schrader
Michael has been attending BLBC for 7 years. He is married to Nichole and has a son Grayson (age 8) and a daughter Linley (age 4). Michael began traveling across the US on missions trips when he was 6 years old. He has been on approximately 25 mission trips.
Michael is a full-time firefighter/paramedic at Clemson University. He will be using his skills and training to teach CPR and first aid to the staff at Davis Lar. This will be his first overseas mission trip.
Deloris Campbell
Deloris says her greatest job is that of wife, mother of 3, Nana of 8. She became a child of God when she was 32. She loves being with children. She says, "God called me to work with the kids at the Lar in Brazil to help give them a history of where they are. Pray for me
that the language will not be a problem and God will be honored in all I do."
Roddy (Pops) Campbell
Roddy is 62 years old and has been married to Deloris for 41 years. He has 3 sons, 3 daughters-in-law and 8 grandchildren. Roddy has been a home building contractor since 1964. He accepted Christ as his savior when he was 9 years old and has been a member of BLBC for 26 years. Roddy has been involved in organized missions trips for more that 35 years having been on youth trips to several states, construction trips in New Jersey and
South Carolina. He has also been on 3 trips to Africa to build bush churches. This will be his 5th trip to the Davis Lar in Brazil.
